How Pricelyzer ranks results

We earn money when you buy through some of our links. We made deliberate design choices so that revenue never overrides what's actually cheapest for you. Here's exactly how the math runs.

The rule

  1. Sort by total landed cost. Price + shipping when the retailer feed exposes it. The cheapest in-stock row always wins position #1.
  2. Position #1 is never re-ranked. Partner or not, if it's cheapest, it shows up first.
  3. Affiliate partners win tiebreakers within 3%. Below position #1, when two rows are within 3% of each other on total cost, we prefer the partner. Most users don't care between $42.10 and $42.30; we'd rather earn a small commission than burn the budget on an indistinguishable price difference.
  4. Out-of-stock rows sink. Regardless of price — a row you can't actually buy isn't useful.

What you'll see on every row

Lowest

The cheapest row that's currently in stock. Computed, not editorial.

Paid link

Pricelyzer may earn a commission if you buy through this row. The wording follows the FTC's preferred plain-English standard.

Free ship

Retailer shipped at $0. Parsed from the upstream feed; absent when shipping data isn't surfaced.

Out of stock

Retailer reports no stock. Pushed below in-stock rows by the sort rule.

12m ago

When the price was last verified. Older than an hour shows in hours; older than a day shows in days.

The lowest-price banner

When position #1 is a non-partner — a retailer that doesn't pay Pricelyzer a commission — we surface a green banner at the top of the result list: "Lowest price found · [retailer] at $X.XX". It's a deliberate self-check. If you ever see us rank a partner above a cheaper non-partner, that's a bug — please tell us.

What we never do

  • We don't overwrite affiliate links you arrived with. If you came to this page through another creator's link, their attribution survives.
  • We don't apply a "Recommended" or "Best pick" badge to a partner just because they pay us. The only "winner" tag is Lowest — and it's computed from price + shipping, not editorial.
  • We don't hide shipping or fees until checkout. If the retailer surfaces the shipping number, it's in the total.
  • We don't change your price. The affiliate commission is paid by the retailer out of their margin — never added on top of what you pay.

Affiliate networks we work with

Today: Amazon Associates, Impact (Target and Walmart through one integration), CJ Affiliate (Wayfair and others), and direct partnerships negotiated through Connexity. The full network list grows as we onboard retailers; the ranking rule above applies the same to every partner.
